PASADENA CAR ACCIDENTS

Pasadena Car Accident Lawyer

Maida Law Firm represents people injured in car wrecks in Pasadena, Texas, and handles those cases from our Houston office on the Southwest Freeway; we do not have a Pasadena office. TxDOT logged 3,299 crashes inside Pasadena city limits in 2025, and because the whole city sits in Harris County, a Pasadena car accident lawsuit is filed in Harris County within the two years allowed by Civil Practice and Remedies Code § 16.003(a).

For a free review of your Pasadena crash, call (713) 785-9484. Our fee is contingent: if there is no recovery, you owe us no fee.

The short version

  • TxDOT logged 3,299 crashes inside the City of Pasadena in 2025, down from 3,512 in 2024: 4 fatal and 65 with a suspected serious injury (TxDOT city tables, 2023–2025).
  • All of Pasadena is in Harris County. The Pasadena Police Department writes the report for a crash in the city (§ 550.026(a)), and a lawsuit goes to the Harris County Civil Courthouse.
  • A chain-reaction crash on SH 225 can bring in several insurers. Each pays only its driver's share of the fault, and you can recover if your share is 50% or less (§ 33.001).
  • Texas minimum liability coverage is $30,000 per person (§ 601.072). Your own UM/UIM coverage applies unless it was rejected in writing (§ 1952.101(c)). The deadline to sue is generally two years (§ 16.003(a)).
  • We handle Pasadena cases from our Houston office and have no Pasadena branch. The consultation is free and the fee is contingent.
PASADENA CRASH DATA

How many car crashes does Pasadena have each year?

About nine a day. TxDOT recorded 3,299 reportable crashes inside the City of Pasadena in 2025, after 3,512 in 2024 and 3,482 in 2023. In 2025, 4 crashes were fatal, 65 caused a suspected serious injury and 429 a suspected minor injury, while 2,348 were logged with no injury. Fatal crashes fell from 12 in 2024 to 4 in 2025.

These counts come from TxDOT’s crash tables for cities and towns (TxDOT, Crashes and Injuries — Cities and Towns, 2025; 2024; 2023; read October 27, 2026, Pasadena rows re-added October 28, 2026). The 2025 total is about 6 percent below 2024. A drop in the count does not make any single crash less serious, and TxDOT’s tables do not say why the number moved, so we do not offer a reason.

Three crashes reported in 2026 show where Pasadena wrecks tend to happen: on SH 225 and on the Beltway 8 frontage roads. On March 23, 2026, a pedestrian was struck and killed on westbound SH 225 at Bearle Street at about 5:45 a.m., and the freeway stayed closed until about 9:30 a.m. (ABC13, March 23, 2026). On May 16, 2026, a Pasadena patrol car making a traffic stop in the 300 block of SH 225 was hit from behind, setting off a chain reaction that left four vehicles undrivable (ABC13, May 17, 2026). On June 7, 2026, a two-vehicle crash near Beltway 8 and Pasadena Boulevard killed one person and sent three others to the hospital; police closed the northbound service road and westbound traffic from Red Bluff Road (ABC13, June 8, 2026).

YOUR PASADENA CLAIM

How does a Pasadena car accident claim work?

Most Pasadena claims start with a Pasadena Police Department crash report, run through the at-fault driver’s liability insurer and, when that coverage is too small, your own uninsured/underinsured motorist policy. If the case cannot be settled, it is filed in the Harris County civil courts. Fault percentages and a two-year filing deadline shape every step.

The report. Inside a city, the immediate report of an injury crash goes to the local police department (Transportation Code § 550.026(a)). In Pasadena that is the Pasadena Police Department, 1201 Davis Street, Pasadena, TX 77506, non-emergency line 713-477-1221 (City of Pasadena directory). The department sends its Crash Team or Crash Reconstruction Team to serious and fatal wrecks, as it did on SH 225 in May and at Beltway 8 in June 2026. The investigating officer has 10 days to file the written report (§ 550.062), and anyone involved in the crash can request a copy in writing (§ 550.065(c)).

Chain-reaction crashes and several insurers. A rear-end collision on SH 225 that pushes one car into the next, like the four-vehicle crash in May 2026, can put three or four liability policies in play. Each insurer will argue that another driver caused your injuries. Texas assigns every party a percentage of responsibility, and you recover only if your own share is 50 percent or less (Civil Practice and Remedies Code § 33.001); below that, your damages shrink by your percentage (§ 33.012(a)).

When the other driver’s policy is not enough. Texas only requires $30,000 in liability coverage for one injured person and $60,000 per crash (Transportation Code § 601.072(a-1)). Uninsured/underinsured motorist coverage comes with every Texas auto policy unless a named insured turned it down in writing (Insurance Code § 1952.101(c)). If the at-fault driver fled, our hit-and-run accident page explains how that coverage applies.

Treatment and the courthouse. Many Pasadena crash patients go to HCA Houston Healthcare Southeast, 4000 Spencer Highway, which the hospital describes as a 350-bed hospital with a Level III Trauma Center (HCA Houston Healthcare). A lawsuit is filed at the Harris County Civil Courthouse, 201 Caroline Street, Houston, and the deadline is two years from the crash (§ 16.003(a)). A claim against a city or county vehicle can carry a much shorter written-notice deadline.

If your crash involved an 18-wheeler or tanker, read our Pasadena truck accident page. Injuries at a plant or elsewhere in the city are covered on our Pasadena personal injury page. If you were hit while walking, see our pedestrian accident page. Our Houston car accident page explains how we handle car cases across the region, and our Baytown car accident page covers the next city east.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Pasadena Car Accident Lawyer FAQs

The Pasadena Police Department handles crashes inside city limits, including on SH 225 through the city. Its headquarters are at 1201 Davis Street, and its non-emergency number is 713-477-1221. Texas Transportation Code § 550.026(a) sends a crash inside a city to that city’s police. Call 911 first if anyone is hurt.

Request it from the Pasadena Police Department, using the case number the officer gave you at the scene. The officer has 10 days to file the report with TxDOT (Transportation Code § 550.062), and anyone involved in the crash, or that person’s representative, can get a copy by written request and paying the fee (§ 550.065(c)).

In Harris County, because all of Pasadena lies inside it. Harris County civil cases are heard at the Harris County Civil Courthouse, 201 Caroline Street, in downtown Houston. Neighboring Deer Park and La Porte are also in Harris County.

Each driver’s insurer pays only for that driver’s share of the fault. Texas Civil Practice and Remedies Code Chapter 33 has the jury assign every party a percentage, and you can recover if your own share is 50 percent or less. That is why statements, dashcam footage and the crash report matter more in a chain-reaction crash than in a two-car wreck.

Your own uninsured motorist coverage can pay. It comes with every Texas auto policy unless a named insured rejected it in writing (Insurance Code § 1952.101(c)), so we ask your insurer for the policy declarations and any signed rejection before assuming the coverage is not there.

Usually two years from the date of the crash, under Civil Practice and Remedies Code § 16.003(a). If a city, county or other government vehicle was involved, a written notice may be due much sooner, so do not wait until the end of the two years.

No. The firm has one office, 8313 Southwest Fwy Ste 102, Houston, and handles Pasadena cases from there. You can start a case by phone at (713) 785-9484 without traveling.

You pay nothing up front. The first consultation is free and the fee is contingent, so you owe no fee unless we recover money for you. The percentage is set out in a written agreement before you sign.

Who handles each step of a Pasadena car accident claim?

A Pasadena car accident claim moves through four places: the Pasadena Police Department for the crash report, the hospital for the medical record, the insurers for payment, and the Harris County civil courts if the claim does not settle. Each one holds records the claim depends on.

Questions people ask after a Pasadena crash

Tap a question to open it.

Why did fatal crashes in Pasadena drop from 12 to 4 between 2024 and 2025?

TxDOT's city tables report the numbers but not the causes, so we do not give a reason. Total crashes fell about 6 percent over the same period, from 3,512 to 3,299, which is a much smaller drop than the fall in fatal crashes. With numbers this small, a change of eight fatal crashes in one year is not enough to call a trend.

Is a pedestrian hit on Highway 225 treated like a car accident claim?

Usually it is handled through the same insurance: the driver's liability coverage and, often, the pedestrian's own auto policy. Fault questions are different, because a freeway is not a place where pedestrians are expected, and the reason the person was on foot matters. In the March 23, 2026 death at Bearle Street, ABC13 reported that police had not said how it happened.

What should I do if I was rear-ended while stopped on a Pasadena freeway shoulder?

Get medical care, keep the case number, and write down the name and insurer of every driver involved, not just the one who hit you. In a chain-reaction crash, the driver who hit you may say they were pushed. Photos of every vehicle's damage help show the order of the impacts, and that order decides which insurer pays.

Who pays my medical bills right after a Pasadena car crash?

Usually your own coverage pays first. Personal injury protection is part of a Texas auto policy unless a named insured rejected it in writing (Insurance Code § 1952.152(b)), and it pays regardless of who caused the crash. Health insurance can also pay. The other driver's insurer normally pays once, when the claim settles, so keep every bill and explanation of benefits.

Can I handle a minor Pasadena fender-bender without a lawyer?

Often you can, if nobody was hurt and only vehicle damage is at stake. 2,348 of Pasadena's 2025 crashes were recorded as non-injury. Talk to a lawyer once there is an injury, pain that shows up days later, a disputed fault story or a recorded statement request from the other insurer.

When should I call a lawyer after a Pasadena car accident?

Before you give the other insurer a recorded statement or sign a medical release. Both can be used to argue fault or to question your injuries, and neither can be taken back. The consultation is free, so an early call costs you nothing.

Which court handles a Pasadena injury case?

Pasadena lies in one county — Harris. A Texas injury suit is normally filed in the county where the crash or incident happened or where the defendant lives, so the courthouse that handles your case depends on which side of the county line you were on.
