Bernard G. Johnson III
Bernard G. Johnson III, also known as “BJ”, is a Senior Litigation Attorney and he is the Managing Attorney of the Maida Law Firm’s Litigation Department. BJ is Board Certified in Personal Injury Trial Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization. BJ brings to our clients over 27 years of experience in the practice of law helping the victims, and their families, of catastrophic injury and wrongful death cases.
BJ’s list of accomplishments and awards from his peers is extraordinary in today’s legal world. He was elected into membership of the American Board of Trial Advocates (ABOTA) and is a Senior Life Fellow of the Foundation of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He has been listed in The National Trial Lawyers – Top 100 Trial Lawyers from 2017 to present, Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum, Texas Super Lawyers by Thomson Reuters: 2012, 2015-2016, 2019 to present, Best Lawyers in America by BL Rankings from 2017 to present, and other publications.
BJ was appointed by the State Bar of Texas to serve on the Exam Commission for the Texas Board of Legal Specialization’s Personal Injury Trial Law Board Certification Exam from 2010-2016. He was also previously appointed to serve on the State Bar of Texas Committee on Texas Pattern Jury Charges for General Negligence and Motor Vehicles (2000-2001). He is admitted to practice in Texas, the United States Supreme Court, the United States Courts of Appeals for the Third, Fifth, and Sixth Circuits, the United States District Courts for the Southern, Northern, Eastern, and Western Districts of Texas, the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Michigan, and the United States District Court for the Western District of Oklahoma.
BJ graduated from the University of Houston in 1990 and South Texas College of Law in 1996. His professional memberships include the Texas Association of Civil Trial and Appellate Specialists, Fellow of the Texas Bar Foundation, State Bar of Texas, Houston Bar Association, American Bar Association, the Texas Trial Lawyers Association, and the Houston Trial Lawyers Association.
Before joining the Maida Law Firm, BJ was a longtime named partner at a well-respected and prestigious personal injury law firm, where he was able to hone his craft and his trial advocacy skills by working hand in hand with a true Texas Legal Legend before his recent retirement.
