That distinction matters: any firm can select its three best reviews, and a page that shows only curated quotes without a route to the complete set is telling you less than it appears to.

Verify rather than believe. Reviews are genuinely useful for questions about service — communication, responsiveness, whether people understood what was happening in their own case — because those are things a client is well placed to judge. They are not evidence of legal competence, which a client usually cannot assess. For that, use the checkable record: State Bar licence status and disciplinary history, and whether anyone on the file holds board certification from the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Google, refreshed automatically rather than typed in. That is a deliberate choice: a hardcoded number is accurate the day it is written and wrong shortly afterwards. This firm's count moved several times in a single month, so any figure fixed in the page code would have been stale almost immediately. Pulling it from the source means the rating and count shown here match what you will see on Google when you follow the link.

That another person's result tells you very little about yours. Outcomes turn on liability, the medical evidence, the permanence of the injury, the insurance actually available, and the injured person's own share of responsibility, which under § 33.001 reduces recovery point for point and bars it entirely above 50 percent. Two people with similar injuries and different available coverage will have very different outcomes. The disclaimer is not legal boilerplate — it is the accurate description of why comparison does not work.

A quoted case value before anyone has read a medical record. Reluctance to put the fee agreement in writing at the outset. Vagueness about who will actually handle the file. An office address that does not resolve to an office, or a phone number that reaches an intake service selling the enquiry on. And superlatives that cannot be verified — Texas regulates what lawyers may claim about themselves for exactly this reason, and a firm making unverifiable claims about its results is telling you something about its judgement.

Reading the whole profile rather than a curated selection is the single most useful thing you can do with law firm reviews, and it applies to every firm you consider, not only this one.

The State Bar of Texas member directory, using the attorney's bar number. It shows licence status, admission date, and any public disciplinary history. This firm publishes all three numbers: Sam A. Look them up — that is what they are published for.

After you have narrowed the field on verifiable criteria, not before. Licence status, board certification and who will actually handle the file are threshold questions with objective answers. Once two or three firms clear that bar, reviews become genuinely informative about the thing that then differs between them — how it feels to be a client, whether calls are returned, whether people were kept informed. Using reviews as the first filter rather than the last is what leads people to well-marketed firms rather than well-suited ones.

Because a testimonials page that only presents praise is not helping you decide anything. The useful version tells you what this evidence is good for and what it is not, and points you at the records that answer the rest. That is also the more defensible position under Texas rules governing what lawyers may say about themselves: verifiable credentials and honest framing rather than unsubstantiated claims about results.

Reviews go on the Google Business Profile linked from this page. If something has gone wrong with a matter this firm is handling, the more useful route is to raise it directly and immediately, with the attorney on the file, rather than through a review — problems in an active case are usually fixable and usually caused by a communication gap. Every client is entitled to know who is handling their case and to get a straight answer about where it stands.
